This month we are concentrating our efforts to encourage everyone to reduce, reuse, recycle.
There are scores of internet sites, and television programs telling how to stop this that and the other. We must all reduce our carbon footprint...blah blah blah. But what we intend to do is give people some informative tips on how to lessen their impact on the enviroment.
Click here to view our Top 10 tips to reduce and reuse. These will not only help you save money, which is a bonus during these credit crunch times, but will also help use less resources in your daily life.
Another fantastic way to reduce items going to lanfill is The Freecycle Network. Thurrock has it's own network. The Thurrock (West) Freecycle® group is open to all Thurrock residents who want to "recycle" an item rather than throw it away! Anything can be passed on to be re-used as long as it's legal and still in a good, usable condition. All you have to do is register and start gifting your unwanted items. Thurrock (West) Freecycle are finalists in the Thurrock Business Awards 2008.
A good site, which has a host of local contacts is the Reduce, Reuse & Recycle website, this has a hostof information on how to recycle certain items, as well as local links for recycling.
None of us want to pay the extra landfill tax, so if we educate ourselves now, what our grandparents use to do as a way of life, we will be much better off all round. |
